Cultural diversity is one of our greatest gifts. The mission of Bengal Foundation has always been to celebrate and preserve this diversity. One of the ways of doing so is to capture in film, the inner realms of artists, painters and singers. The initial drive was to simply document the art exhibitions. Later, in the hands of creative directors, the films changed course and attempted to chronicle the artists’ personal and professional lives.
Bengal Foundation profiles artists, major events, exhibitions and musical performances in a variety of documentaries. A majority of the films are linked to art-events organised by the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts. Others feature large-scale events or pay tribute to personalities in the painting and music industry. It is believed that Bengal Foundation has the largest repertoire of films on art.
After production, each film premieres at the Bengal Shilpalaya for public viewing. To date the Foundation has produced 39 documentary films, 41 television episodes and 2 music videos. Some films are available on DVD.
