The British Council and the Bengal Foundation are looking for innovative, cutting-edge graphic short-stories for an anthology to be published by Bengal Publications in November of 2014, in time for the HAY FESTIVAL.

We are seeking innovative, cutting-edge graphic short-stories (it will look and feel like a comic, but we are encouraging story/short fiction told visually, addressing an issue or topic). We welcome submissions from cartoonists/ artists/ writers working in all genres. If you have a graphic short-story idea, do not hesitate to send it to us and we will consider all submissions.

Theme: IDENTITY (for example: social, gender, racial, individual, etc. – the content can range from a story highlighting an issue, to personal reflection, to fantasy fiction, depending on how the author wants to present the idea).

The prize

• • Honorarium will be gifted to all participants whose stories have been selected for publication.
  • The stories selected will be published in an anthology of graphic short-stories by Bengal Publications and distributed by the British Council and Bengal Foundation.

How to enter

Send us a 5-15 pages long first draft of your graphic short-story on the topic of IDENTITY, by 30 May 2014.

The story can be in English or Bangla.

Submissions are open for all nationalities residing in Bangladesh and Bangladeshi nationals residing abroad

Guidelines for submission

• Image resolution must be 300 dpi

• Image format can be JPG or TIFF

• The short story can be of 5-15 pages (Color / B&W)

• Paper size: 10” x 7” iches (i.e. 10 inches in height and 7 inch in width)

• Text of the graphic story should be sent separately in a .doc file

• Image must not be greater than 10 MB

** One can submit a maximum of 2 (two) graphic stories, but each story should be sent separately.
